So the cable was working perfectly for about 4 days, one button for autofocus on, and another for firing. And then the cable broke... I need to find a way to take all the stress out of the solder joints on the switch, once I get that dialed and working I'll update the post with new info...

Ronny, thanks! You can do it with only 1 multimax. The flash has to be connected to a multimax so you can set the delay, and the camera receiver and the transmitter can be either plus II's or multimax's. The channels don't really matter, as long as everything is on the same channel. So you need one transmitter, one receiver for each flash with a delay set, and one receiver for the camera. It only works with the flash at 1/1 power (full) and the shutter speed has to be at least 1/1000th. Let me know if that helps.

Florian, my D3s works with the SB800 at 1/1000 to 1/2000 no problem. Make sure you are setting the flash at full power, and start with a delay of around 0.0417 1/400 won't work this way, you need to be at 1/1000th or faster. Let me know if that works...
